Systems engineering is a bedrock principle of Shimano’s holistic design approach, and nowhere is this design harmony more evident than in the first-ever mountain-bike-specific 10-speed chain. With four task-specific plates per link, this new asymmetrical chain was engineered specifically to climb the profile of an HG cassette on one side and catch the pickup pins on Shimano’s already smoothest-in-class front chainrings on the other.
