My name is Mattias Nilsson, 19 years old and living in Falun Sweden. I have been doing the cyclingsports – Mountainbike, Road Race and Cyclo-Cross during summertime and CrossCountry Skiing during wintertime since I was a little boy.
For several years I have had a lot of success both in cycling and in skiing. I have had victories and been on the podium in UCI Mountain Bike World Cup, Nordic Championships MTB, several victories in Swedish Championships MTB, victory in U6-Cycle Tour International Road Race and a victory in Swedish Championships Cross Country Skiing.
I´m very committed and motivated to my sport and are pushing hard along with my long term plan.
Right now I have half a year left of my studies, 3 years Scientific at the Haraldsbogymnasium in Falun. I will graduate in June 2008.
Living in Falun is a perfect spot for elitesports, actually a centra in Sweden for a lot of sports which attract a lot of athlets for different sports and studies in a challenging environment
Since 2006 I´m a member of the Swedish National Team Junior/U-23 Mountainbike.
This has given me the opportunity during the last two seasons to meet the best international mountainbike-athelets in World Cup races, Championships and different National Liga Cups and I´m really happy with my results.
I´m very pleased with the MTB-season 2007: I delivered results on an international high level and had successful results in Sweden.
Early spring I had a good trainingcamp and UCI-Races in Cyprus and 2 victories in the Italian Cup-Internazionali d´Italia.
This was followed by my two best races for the season; the UCI World Cup in Houffalize Belgium were I finished 1st and the UCI World Cup in Offenburg Germany were I finished 2nd.
During summertime I finished 1st in the Swedish Championships and 1st in the Swedish XC-Cup total after 5 competitions.
I have also had successful results in the Swedish Cyclo-Cross Cup and I placed at the podium position in Men Elite total.
Future. This season I will become a U-23 rider.
I have decided already this season to focus all my future efforts on Mountainbike and continue my “journey” towards my longterm target and dream which are:
*To be on the Mountainbike podium in the Olympics 2012 London.
As part of the longterm target, my targets for this year 2008 as a first year U-23 rider are:
*To establish results on an overall Top-10 level UCI World Cup Total and one podium position either in a UCI World Cup Race or European- or World Championships.
*To finish my 3-year studies in June 2008 in a good way and after finished school start looking for an international platform to be able to further focus on my cycling.
Resultat:
UCI World Cup Houffalize Belgium: 1st
UCI World Cup Offenburg Germany: 2nd Swedish Championships: 1st
