2018/04/03Updated report on fire at Shimano's headquarters factory in Sakai (as of 3rd April)

SHIMANO INC. deeply apologizes for the inconvenience to many people including customers, shareholders and our neighborhood regarding the fire at the headquarters factory.
On 31st March an on-the-spot inspection was conducted under the supervision of the Fire and Police Departments. Now we are dedicating all our efforts to investigate the cause of the fire.
Our report on the current situation is below:

　
1. Outline of the incident:
　1-1 Date and time of fire occurrence: 26th March (Mon) around 13:40 p.m. (JST)
　1-2 Date and time of fire extinguishment: 26th March (Mon) 21:21 p.m. (JST)
　1-3 Occurrence location: Surface treatment process area in headquarters factory (3rd floor)
　1-4 Casualties: None

2. Present Status
We stopped production at the headquarters factory immediately after the occurrence of the incident. However we have resumed operations in the areas where safety is confirmed, except for the surface treatment process area where the fire occurred.

We offer our deepest apologies for any inconvenience caused. We are deeply determined to prevent these types of accidents in the future.
