In the late 1970s, Shimano, upon receiving news of a mountain biking boom on the west coast of the United States, saw massive potential in mountain biking and released DEORE XT, a components group dedicated to mountain bikes (MTBs). After that, the MTB movement spread around the world and DEORE XT supported its growth.
