Amid Shimano’s product deployment of spinning reels, TITANOS BIOMASTER GT/GTα was released in 1987 as a high grade model following TWIN POWER. The first model was characterized by compactness and long casting performance. After the release of STELLA in 1992, BIOMASTER served as the standard model that harnessed the advanced technologies of higher grade models. Released in 1995, BIOMASTER XT was well received for its innovative design featuring the colors white, green, and gold. This model became a record hit. In 1998, a hybrid aluminum body was employed, using an aluminum material for the reel foot, which had previously been made from resin in the same price range. BIOMASTER continued to evolve as a highly cost-effective series that completely changed the image of mid-level reels. It enjoyed popularity among many anglers for many years.
