New Possibilities Opened up by Tackle for Surf Casting to Demonstrate Ultimate Long Casting Performance
In the early 1980s, AEROCAST set outstanding records in many casting competitions due to its excellent long casting performance. In 1987, Shimano released SUPER AERO Kisu Special, which was developed by inheriting and evolving the AEROCAST concept. It featured the V-type line roller, which was capable of handling an extra-fine line. The weight and size were reduced by using Titanos material. The product minimized line twisting. Special spools were also released for respective line thicknesses. In this way, Shimano improved the long casting performance. The Technium body and titanium body were introduced in 1997 and 1998, respectively. Efforts were made to reduce the weight and further improve the beautiful metal design while enhancing the product’s rigidity and durability. In the latter half of the 2000s, the SUPER AERO series further branched out into FLIEGEN, SpinJoy, SURF LEADER, and other models. The concept has been inherited to date while improving the technologies for surf casting.
