In 1994, SHIMANO ACERA was introduced as a series under the RIDE LIGHT concept following SHIMANO STX and SHIMANO ALIVIO. The first model was named SHIMANO ACERA X. The X logo was designed with the image of sports in mind. Compared to higher-end series, SHIMANO ACERA assumed the characteristics as sports items more strongly, offering the enjoyment of sports bikes to many more people. Currently, it is mounted on various sports bikes ranging from mountain bikes to trekking bikes, enjoying popularity throughout the world.
