High Performance Entry-level Components Series
SHIMANO TIAGRA was introduced as a high performance entry-level components series for recreational road sports bikes in the latter half of the 1990s, when road bikes were growing in popularity. It was a 9-speed system with performance and functionality trickled down from SHIMANO 105 and other higher-end series. It offered ergonomically designed dual control levers, a wide gear ratio, an optical gear display that provided an at-a-glance view of the gear position, and other features. A flat handlebar lever option was also available. Opening the door to road bikes for a wide range of users, TIAGRA continues to promote the enjoyment of road bikes with its unique identity.
