METREA is a components series developed under the concept of URBAN SPORT. It became a distinctive components series due to its rounded form with a metallic texture yet soft feel that has changed the conventional image of Shimano components. To meet demand from city dwellers for higher quality items to suit a minimal and simple life, Shimano created a sophisticated and minimalist design by eliminating anything unnecessary. To enable performance riding while maintaining the simple appearance, Shimano developed stylish redesigned dual control STI levers dedicated to bull horn bars, assuming a slightly aggressive head forward posture. A sophisticated design was adopted for the front chainwheel with practical chain guard so that it blends into urban areas. Equipped with such functional characteristics, METREA offers a new style of cycling in a new category.
